Meet Zsane: Poet, Actress on The Necessity of Telling Our Own Stories

“I’m tired of feeling like I’m being talked at, whether it’s my the news & media or self-proclaimed political experts, professors, even elders, etc. I’m tired of feeling like my opinion is not valid in this type of discussion.”

I may not be well versed in every single thing going on right now but I have my own concerns to voice and I deserve to be apart of the conversation.

Why is it important for people to hear us talk about our experiences?

Because who else is going to do it? It’s our responsibility to shed light on our own experience to create a narrative that isn’t bogged down with degrading stereotypes rooted in a casual lack of awareness and overall ignorance. We must tell our own stories in order for them to be true. To change minds we’ve got to change the story line. Yea, I’m really good at rhyming lol

How was the energy on set?

It was sisterly, and masterfully so. Brave & empowered women working together in a way that made me incredibly proud to be surrounded by that type of flow. I love y’all 💕

What do you hope the audience will takeaway from this conversation?

That it doesn’t matter who you are and what you do or don’t know, you deserve a seat at the table of conversation. What you think and your experience in this world matters.
